Jonathan Coyle
Jonathan is a highly experienced specialist in insurance and civil litigation, who joined Mason Black Lawyers in 2011 where he works closely with Brett Turnbull in the insurance team.
Jonathan has represented insurers whilst employed at a number of niche practices and has also obtained invaluable experience whilst working as in-house counsel. He is highly experienced in litigation and was previously employed as a Senior Associate in a small practice which focused upon high volume debt recovery for some of Australia’s prominent corporations whilst at the same time being able to establish and successfully grow a personal injury practice focusing on compulsory third party, workers compensation and other insurance claims.
Jonathan began his legal career in 1993 after gaining a Bachelor of Arts from Australian National University and a Diploma of Law from Sydney University.
In 2001 he was appointed Senior Associate at a medium tier firm running a litigation insurance portfolio where he acted on behalf of major insurance companies including Zurich Australia Insurance Ltd, NRMA and QBE Insurance. He moved onto a similar role with a larger practice where he also worked for clients including the Roads and Traffic Authority of NSW, Allianz Australia Insurance and ORICA Australia Ltd. Jonathan then moved into the insurance sphere, joining Insurance Australia Group where he worked for five years in the compulsory third party insurance business of NRMA.
He has solid experience in motor vehicle accident claims, personal injury and debt recovery litigation.
